Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
VPMG Property Management is committed to serving every client, applicant, tenant, and member of the public with equal respect, dignity, and professionalism — regardless of who they are or where they come from. We believe that a diverse and inclusive community is a stronger one, and that every person deserves fair access to quality housing and professional property management services.
This commitment is not simply a legal obligation, though we fully comply with all applicable anti-discrimination laws. It reflects our genuine belief in equal treatment as a core professional value.
Equal Service to All Clients
VPMG provides its property management and tenant services equally to all clients, regardless of:
- Race, color, or ethnicity
- National origin or ancestry
- Religion or religious practices
- Sex, gender identity, or gender expression
- Sexual orientation
- Marital or family status
- Disability or health status
- Age
- Veteran or military status
- Source of income, including housing vouchers or rental assistance
- Any other characteristic protected by federal, Washington State, or local law
We apply the same service standards, communication practices, and responsiveness to every client. Property owners of all backgrounds receive the same professional management. Tenants of all backgrounds receive the same maintenance response times, the same lease terms, and the same respectful treatment.
Fair Housing as a Diversity Commitment
Fair housing compliance is the legal expression of our diversity commitment in the housing context. VPMG fully complies with the federal Fair Housing Act, the Washington Law Against Discrimination, and all local ordinances that protect housing seekers from discrimination. We apply consistent, objective screening criteria to all rental applicants. We do not deny housing, alter lease terms, or treat any person differently based on a protected characteristic.
For a complete description of our fair housing practices, please see our Fair Housing Statement.
Welcoming All Prospective Tenants
VPMG manages properties in a region that includes people from many different cultural, linguistic, national, and economic backgrounds. We welcome all prospective tenants who meet our published rental criteria. We do not informally discourage applications from people of any particular background, and we do not implement screening criteria in ways that have a disparate discriminatory impact on protected groups.
We accept lawful forms of income verification, including documentation from non-traditional income sources, and we do not require applicants to have a Social Security Number to apply. We work with applicants who use housing vouchers, rental assistance programs, and other subsidized income sources.
Language and Communication
VPMG makes reasonable efforts to communicate effectively with clients and applicants whose primary language may not be English. If you need assistance communicating in a language other than English, please let us know and we will make reasonable accommodations to help. This may include use of translation services for key communications or documents.
Cultural Sensitivity and Respectful Conduct
VPMG and everyone acting on our behalf are expected to interact with all clients and members of the public with cultural sensitivity and respect. Bias, stereotyping, or culturally insensitive behavior has no place in our professional conduct. Any client who believes they have been treated in a culturally disrespectful or discriminatory manner is encouraged to report it to us directly. We will investigate and respond to all such reports seriously.
Property Owner Obligations
Property owners who contract with VPMG for management services must agree to comply with all fair housing and anti-discrimination laws. VPMG will not implement instructions from property owners that would discriminate against applicants or tenants based on protected characteristics. If a property owner directs VPMG to take action that would violate fair housing law, we will decline to do so and may terminate the management relationship.
Continuous Improvement
We recognize that commitment to diversity and inclusion is an ongoing practice, not a one-time declaration. We periodically review our policies, practices, and client outcomes for fairness and consistency. Feedback from clients and community members about our diversity and inclusion practices is welcomed and taken seriously. Contact us at info@vancouverpmg.com or (360) 803-2002 if you have concerns or suggestions related to this policy.
